To Assign a Boundary to a Work Package

  1. In the Work Package dialog, right-click and select Create New Work Package.
  2. In the Work Package Types dialog, select the type of work package you want to create.
  3. In the Disciplines dialog, make a selection.
  4. In the Activity Types dialog, make a selection.

    The <work package> – New dialog opens.

  5. Click the Boundary drop-down menu to see a list of all the boundaries within the model.
  6. Choose the desired Boundary and turn on Include components intersecting the boundary if you want to include those components.
  7. Click Assign Boundary to add the boundary’s components to the Work Package.

An Assign Boundary alert dialog opens asking if you want to add the components from the boundary.

  8. Click Yes to add the components to the work package and assign the boundary. Click No to not add the components to the work package, but still assign the boundary. Click Cancel to not add the components to the work package nor assign the boundary to the work package.

If the boundary is already assigned to another work package of the same Discipline and Activity Type, the Move Task dialog opens.

  9. If you wish to move the tasks from the previously created work package into the new work package, select Yes; the boundary is assigned and the tasks are moved into the new work package. If you select No, the boundary is assigned to the new work package but none of the overlapping tasks are added to the work package. If you select Cancel, the boundary is not assigned and the tasks are not added to the work package.
  10. If you select Yes, the view is shifted back to the <work package> – New dialog, the boundary has been assigned to the work package, and the components within the boundary have been added to the Component List.
  11. Click OK to create the work package.

The Work Package Name dialog prompts you to assign the work package a title.

  12. Assign the title and click OK to create the package.

The <work package> – New dialog is closed and the new work package displays in the Work Package hierarchy tree.
